From everything I have been taught about the Middle east women are second class citizens there! Can we really expect a country like Iraq to treat all equally regardless of gender?
Or are we fooling ourselves?

We are absolutely fooling ourselves. The men in these countries do not want our brand of democracy. They have no interest in sharing their power with women in their society. And they certainly don't want freedom of religion. These guys want an Islamic State run by men...like it has been for a thousand years.

I don't think so. Democracy can only be created gradually, by the people, the way in the US women got the right to vote. We can't impose democracy--they have to want it for themselves.
