It depends on your state regulations, I know that Idaho is 12 residents for every CNA. Of course where I used to work and most places don't require you to have that many residents, we only had 8 residents for every CNA. They other thing they can do to get away with giving you more residents than CNA's is that they can count the nurses as members to help with the residents, so what that means is more residents less CNA's. If you are worried about not having enough CNA's to help, read the careplans of the residents and see what type of assistance they need if they are a 2 person lift, then you need to people near that resident.

Depending on the type of care that is required and the state that you live in. I am a CNA and when doing my internship at a nursing home the ratio was 1 CNA to every 8 to 10 residents. What I can tell you is that some of the residents did not receive the proper care. Don't get me wrong, they received what the case plan laid out but there was not enough time for the little extra things you would expect for a loved one. Like lotions, manicures, rolling hair&make up for the ladies. Each resident should be checked on every 2 hours and if one of them needs a little extra care it comes from the time aloted for the next resident.

If you had a loved one that you could not take care of, I"m sure you would want the best for them. Right? So look for a facility that has a ratio more like 1 CNA for every 6 residents, You will find that the CNA's will be happier with their job and everybody benifits

9.....that gives you 1 CNA per about 7 patients with 2 to have 8...which is a caseload.Proper patient care means distributing patients evenly or as best as possible.

70 at least...The nursing facility are in such SHAME....And ruin,s..It brakes my heart to KNOW that our senior citizen,s and Disable are treated worse then the animal shelter,s But it is the truth...If you have someone in those disgusting places..You had better just quit work and be their everyday..And being their everyday dose not even protect them from being abused and neglected..And unwashed unfed..And things done to them they have no right to do you ask them I would get I Don,t no..The one my Daddy was in killed him so to speak...Know I did not Sue because suing is not the answer...The answer is to do something about it have it be a law that their is to be a caretaker to each patient...Put it out their the abuse being done because of lack of caretakers reason being We ALL have to get old and what goes around comes around...So something Has to be done...God bless you and The USA and Israel And All...

I think there should be at least 6 to 10 per shift. When there is not enough then the people get neglected.
