I'm a teacher and you have to be super smart you're teacher reccomends you get to go ahead to the next grade. You have to take some sort of placement exam as well. The principal must be in agreeement as well as your parents.

When I was in 3rd grade, I was skipped up to 4th grade because the teachers thought I was too advanced for 3rd grade. It was something my parents wanted, but I didn't. 30 years later and I still think it was a mistake by my parents. I felt less mature that most of the kids in my class, and for most of the next couple of years I was considered a freak. I stopped trying, and my grades slipped. I was a 'B' student most of the rest of my years in school, and I was happy not to be made fun of.
If you are asking this about your kid, make sure that they are the type that can handle the change, and make sure they won't be worried about other kids opinions about them. You know kids can be cruel, and it takes a tough kid to put up with it, or to ignore it.
And to answer your question, not all school districts will allow this, but there are no government regulations on elementary school advancements. You just have to ask the principal or administrator of that school.

It is very unsual for elementary school kids to skip a grade. On rare occasions, specially gifted kids may be allowed to skip a grade but it is not recommended (too much pressure on the child). Also, when a child is behind a grade for whatever reason sometimes he will skip a grade to be at the same level with his peers.
All in all, skipping a grade, in my opinion, is not good for the child's natural developement.

You MUST be super Gifted. Your teachers must recognize it. Then they will test your I Q.If you make the score the teacher will notify your parents for a conference and it will go from there. My oldest son is gifted. I did not want him to skip a grade I signed for him to take accelerated classes.

You can request from the principal and administrators that you feel you can already read and do math more proficient than the grade you're in. They can test you and if you pass the next grade tests you'll be up for consideration.

well im in 8th grade and ive found that even if theres no homework you still learn something that day. i know playing hookey can be fun sometimes but its not always good..especially if you skip more than one day. i think your education is much more important than being able to sleep in...id say go tomorrow because in the long run its going to help you...

This has to do with your parents. They have to ask for it. You will have to do testing and then if you do well at this I would think your parents will have to think about if it would be good for you being with older kids.
I also think the rules would differ from state to state.
