My girlfriend Kim says they can, but I think they can't. Please tell me that I am right.

yes deaf people can talk they are deaf not mute they have to practise though

There are a few different types of deafness. Some deaf people can talk because they need to function in the real world - my dentist for example can speak fairly well, reads lips, and signs as well. Other deaf people are more traditional and refuse to speak for a number of reasons (that's right, they refuse.) Others who are deaf-mute cannot speak at all, even if they wanted to. People who are hearing-able can also be mute.

If they learned to read lips and practice a lot....they CAN.

SORRY YOU ARE NOT RIGHT. DEAF PEOPLE CAN TALK.THEY JUST CANT HEAR WHAT YOU OR THEY ARE SAYING.
