Visitors by Bob Chapman, is similar in so much that the central character is a young boy, possessed with the ability to travel in time. The story will keep you going until the last page. It moves along at a good pace. It is both funny and sad. I recommend that you try it.

The Harry Potter series is TOP NOTCH. There really isnt anything out there to match it. You could try Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Poalini, but he is not on par with J.K. Rowling. The story is good though. Also on a different scale is the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. As books, it is a whole different experience than the films. Fantastic read! However. LOTR is MUCH more difficult to read than Harry Potter OR Eragon. C.S. Lewis's Chronicals of Narnia are also a great fantasy read. But again, its just not Harry Potter.

My personal solution for the "i cant get enough harry potter" syndrome is simple. Read them again. And again. And again. Because nothing out there compares. Im currently on my fourth time around and at the moment im listening to the Audio Discs by Jim Dale for a change. He is UNBELIEVABLE! Every Harry Potter fan should hear him read this series. He nails it. Thats just a suggestion.
I know you were asking for OTHER books. But i have personally run into trouble doing so, because everything just falls short....

Hope this helps.

At the start of the game, the player is already on the run as he battles for survival. He needs to accomplish a frantic and risky mission of finding the location and wiping out Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Try the "Septimus Heep" trilogy. Only the first two have been published so far: "Magyk" and "Flyte." Top notch, an easy read. Or you could try the "Sisters Grimm," or is it "Grimm Sisters" novels? About two girls who are discendants of the brothers Grimm, and live in a town in upstate New York populated by fairytale creatures, and people, living incognito. (The mayor is Prince Charming, his girlfriend, Cinderella I think, is a school teacher.)

try the inkheart trilogy, though the third book isn't out yet. it's like a less complex harry potter but is still enjoyable. author is cornelia funke, the author of the thief lord and dragonheart.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is like Harry Potter because it involves magic, creatures, and adventure. Although, Harry Potter is MUCH more entertaining, in my opinion. :)

First of all, I want to remind you (if you don't know already) that Mugglenet http://www.mugglenet.com and The Leaky Cauldron http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org are THE sites to check out for Harry Potter news. Their weekly podcasts are absolutely terrific also--please please check them out if you haven't already. I promise you, you won't be disappointed! News, discussions, interviews (even with the actors from the films), the works. Both podcasts are so professional, educational, and funny. I love all the Deathly Hallow discussions that they have had on them lately. Don't forget that you can download their podcasts onto your computer, onto a cd, or onto a MP3 player. You don't need to use itunes either, you can just click on the direct download links.

Now, onto your question====

I love the Children of the Red King series (the Charlie Bone books) by Jenny Nimmo. They are very similar to the Harry Potter series yet they are unique in their own way. Be sure to read the books in order!

Jenny Nimmo is also the author of The Magician Trilogy which is excellent.

Sorcery and Cecilia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot
by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
I love this book. Full of wit, fun, and adventure. It is JKR meets Jane Austen. And as it turns out Jane Austen is one of JKR's favorite authors, which shows in the HP series I think. I can't wait to get the next two books in this series, The Grand Tour and The Mislaid Magician.

You may also like The Grey Griffins series by Derek Benz and J.S. Lewis. The Official site for this series is at http://www.greygriffins.com/

The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. The author's official site is at http://www.garthnix.co.uk

The Game Of Sunken Places by M.T. Anderson

Gilda Joyce Psychic Investigator by Jennifer Allison

The Seer Psychic Series by Linda Joy Singleton. Her official Myspace is at http://www.myspace.com/lindajoysingleton

How To Disapear Completely and Never Be Found by Sara Nickerson

Pure Dead Magic by Debi Gliori

And last but not least, if you are looking for a book which have no wizard or magic yet has plenty of conflict, romance, drama, twists, and wit, check out a Jane Austen novel, particularly Emma, which Rowling listed in her Top 10 favorite books. As JRK has said: "Jane Austen is the pinnacle to which all other authors aspire." And you can't get a better recommendation than one from Rowling herself.

By the way, if you read Emma as well as Pride and Prejudice you may recognize echoes of your favorite Harry Potter characters or their actions. Check out http://www.austenblog.com/archives/2007/01/10/jk-rowling-friend-of-jane-and-miss-woodhouse/ for more discussion about this.
