I am getting cramps on my right side that are quite painful....It has only happened twice now, but they really hurt! They don't last very long, but I am afraid that there could be something wrong? Can ligament stretching be that uncomfortable? i woke up this morning to it, it hurt so bad, and I was laying on my right side when I woke up? Could that be what caused it!? If you have any info I would greatly appreciate it! I am a first time mommy and have have 3 miscarriages so every little pain and ache worries me! Thank you!

Yes, ligament pain can be that bad. I found out the hard way. I'm a second time mom and called 911 on pains that shot up and around my right side. Turned out to be round ligament pain and they subsided with some rest and tylenol. The doc said if the pains stabbed me severely but didn't subside it's best to get to the hospital because it could be a sign of placenta abruption. With placenta abruption the pain does NOT go away, it lingers and gets worse and worse until you start to bleed.

Unfortunately, yes ligament pain can be that bad. It happened to me. I found having a bath or a shower helped ease the pain. I also began using pillows to lie to put just under my tummy when I slept on my side, it seems to help to.

congrats on the pregnancy

I know this sounds odd, but what did you have to eat yesterday. My wife during her first pregnancy ate some cooked cabbage and got a good scare at first. She had incredible cramping pain in her side. It just happened to be gas. I don't know if that is whats going on with you. but you can all the maturnaity ward at your hospital the nurses there should be able to help you. If they can't they will have the doctor on call to call you back at home and he or she will be able to help ease your mind. My wife call the hospital a few times during both pregnancies. I hope I have helped.

first off, congratulations on your new baby! and seccond, those pains i got too when i was in my 2nd trimester, they are called round ligament pains. i remember i was getting them too, and i was at the doctors, i didnt mention them to her, but she asked me if i was getting them yet, and i was like yes! what are those? and she said, its perfectly normal and that they are just round ligament pains, and not to be affraid, she said that they can hurt really bad but they only last for a seccond.

The only time that you should really worry about bad pains like that, is if you notice bleeding when you get them, or if they dont go away when you lay down and rest. but other than that they are perfectly normal.

if you have any doubts, then contact your doctor.
good luck to you and your baby! take care!

I got them on my left side. I went to doc and they did ultrasound and said everything was ok. This is in my first trimester it happened, maybe around 8, 9, 10 weeks. I only ever got cramps on one side. doc said call if they get worse or if i see blood, otherwise its normals and its just stretching. I miscarried my first pregnacy also, so this is my second pregancy and am at 18 weeks now. Good luck to u.

ligament pain can be awful! and if you were lying on that side it is possible that all of you muscle tension moved to that side, it could also be a braxton hicks contraction, sometimes those would take my breath away, put your feet up and relax and if you continue to feel discomfort call you doctor, i'm sure they can offer words of encouragement

I'm not sure how far along you are so I don't know how to answer this. If you are very close to your due date they could be contractions or braxton hicks. No matter what, I would ask your doctor. It is your body, your baby, and you doctor should be very understanding of any questions or concerns you have. Take care.
