It would help if you were clearer about what you mean in terms of a rebellion.
If you mean people taking the law into their own hands against federal government intrusions. It won’t happen on any significant scale although there have been some isolated and ill considered such actions. Right now the individual out East who is barricaded in his home for not filing taxes. Of course there is the David Korish event and the Ruby Ridge event as well as others. Such things have happened through our history and will continue to occur, but they will not rise to the level of rebellion. John Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry is an event that proves the point.
However, it is possible that some States may come together to reject an intrusive federal government acting in an extra-constitutional manner. The civil war is such an event and there have been other events where States have rejected federal intrusions.
Normally, such things are settled in the courts, but not always. Right now federal intervention in medical use of marijuana in California is a clear case of federal extra-constitutional actions. There is no delegated power for the federal government to take such actions. So far the State of California has been relatively passive as to these federal intrusions. But say the State of California goes to court over them and loses and then the California State legislature votes to reject such federal intrusions, it would be quite possible to seen State action of arresting federal officers involved in these intrusions.
Would this be considered “rebellion?” From a federal perspective it likely could be so considered. From a State perspective it could be the reinstitution of State Nullification of federal acts and this would be on solid ground of the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions and the 1828 Exposition. This could also be based on the fact that the 14th Amendment was never Constitutionally ratified.
Revolution? Maybe, but it would take a State Governor and State Legislature which had the intestinal fortitude to do what is correct.

I think the possibility of rebellion is possible in every country. It has happened in most throughout history. In the United States at this point though, the government would have to start infringing on our rights and turn into a police state before we would rebel. If you look at the Constitution, it would be difficult for the President to gain enough power to actually start infringement. There are enough checks and balances to protect against that sort of thing. Unless some sort of disaster happens, like what happened to Germany after World War One, I don't see anyone being able to convince Congress to give one person the amount of power it would take.

There has already been 2 rebellions. Our Civil War, and, of course, the Revolutionary War. For anyone to say that this country has never been as divided...well thats just pure rubbish. In the 1860s, Americans were killing Americans by the hundreds of thosands.
Will there ever be another rebellion? Not in the militaristic sense. But I'm seeing California and Texas moving SLOWLY in that direction. Notice how both are border states with large populations, but with Cali being gung-ho for welcoming illegals and Texans being gung-ho about sending them back?

That’s a very interesting question. Do you mean, a coup d’ etat? Who knows? For things such as this to happen there must be a strong incendiary action on behalf of the government. You must remember what is keeping America strong. It is patriotism and the fact that we stand united. Our future in light of current events looks grim however. And the next president; whoever should run America next may be one of the determinants of future prosperity. I put greatest faith in Giuliani although I would love for a female president. Hopefully in the election of 2012 there will be an African American female running who is intelligent and strong. That would kill all the stereotypes.
As for a rebellion strong enough to stage a coup…that is possible but not too likely in that States. It's the great thing about our system; we only have to tolerate a president for four years (one of the reasons they didn't care much to impeach Johnson).

Overthrow? I don't think so. Reestablish? Yes, without a doubt. You see, unlike a lot of other countries, our Military does not swear allegiance to the Government nor to the leader or leaders of our Government. They swear an oath to the Constitution which specifically limits the role of the Federal Government. The members of our Military swear an oath to protect and defend that Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. Our military people also have the right to refuse to obey any "illegal" order. This makes things very different in America than elsewhere. Should any Political Leader, including the President himself, order the military to fire upon civilians, he would most likely find himself under arrest. If you know any of the good people that are members of our Armed Services, especially the Officers and "lifers" you would know that they would never take up arms against the civilians unless the civilians in question were seeking to overthrow the Constitution. That would make such civilians "domestic enemies" of the Constitution. As far as civilians rising up to defend the Constitution, yes we would. But with the military on our side. So I don't think such conflict would last very long. *

Yes, the country has never been so divided.
Everyone is on a short fuse. They are tired of their hard earned dollars going to the middle east to keep two Islamic terriorist organizations from killing each other and taking so many young lives. Young Americans sent over as referrees and to a people who do not appreciate it.
Look at these questions from MUslims.
Isn't the USA immoral?
Isn't the USA a bad place where women are whores?
If I was a young man I would not go fight their wars for them, they hate us. Just read their questions.

Yes. People might get frustrated with this Iraq war, high gas price, and if Hillary or Obama becomes President taxing us to death, or another Republican wins, or whatever... yeah
people will rebel.
