This terminology has not standardized. You might well ask your teacher/professor for an opinion. Lacking that, "African Americans" is probably the safest. But to me it looks better in a phrase such as "Relations between Blacks and Whites after the Civil War...etc" to use "Blacks".

i think you should say black because it was use for the older days, and it is one word that describe many things about black people
