As easily as the USA is willing to invade other countries......don't they have the right to defend themselves?

Most are left over from the Cold War. Many are being dismantled under agreements with Russia.

Why do we ask others not to: You should find old news footage of the destruction caused by the atomic bombs the US used on Japan; footage showing the swollen and bloated bodies of the Iranians and Kurds that Saddam used biological weapons on; and the many other instances where chemical and biological weapons were used. Those will show why we ask others not to develop those kinds of weapons.

In a way it is hypocritical. However, as so often pointed out in UN speeches and rhetoric, each nation reserves the right to take preemptive action to protect itself and its citizens. Whether it is misused is another question but that is the most logical reason for the US to be willing to invade other countries.

The U.S. does not want any other country to have nukes NOR develop the capability for producing them because they are afraid some other country will make bigger and better ones than they have themselves. The U.S. uses the excuse that they don't want "rogue" countries to delop them when in effect, many countries believe the U.S. to be a "rogue" country. That's why they want them too! And no one wants to admit it, but these other countries are getting them.

I agree. I think my country is very hypocritical in that regard. We keep trying to tell other countries what to do, when really, what right do we have? Most other countries have been around a lot longer than we have. It's like having an annoying younger sibling trying to boss its older siblings around.

Remember we were in many talks about downsizing our arsenal before these other countries started building their own. And as bad as Iraq is we are not saying we will nuke it. Iran and N.K. make it pretty clear they have itchey fingers.

Do as we say, not as we do.

The lesser nations of the world must learn their place.
