Can a employer payday be late?

I was wondering if there was any laws that protect employee who get payed 1-2 days late from normal payday

There should be a fixed pay period: monthly, bi-monthly, weekly.
The only exceptions are when there are holidays or weekends, and even then, the employer should pay you on the Friday before the holiday or weekend.
