There is the Fells Point/Inner Harbor area which is a great place to spend the afternoon walking around and checking out some the restaurants and nice bars. Also, The Sound Garden in my opinion is one of the best music stores out there. There is also Federal Hill, Fort McHenry, and The Maryland Zoo. The city has a very industrial history and that is highlighted in some of the great muesems (The Baltimore Muesem of Industry, and The B&O Railroad Muesem to name a couple). You are close to Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Annapolis and the beaches of Delaware and Ocean City. Ocean City is the official summer getaway for Baltimore. Baltimore is also home to one of the best medical institutions in the world, Johns Hopkins Hospital. Camden Yards is one of the best stadiums in the country to watch a baseball game and the Baltimore Ravens has a very loyal following and a team with a great record. Also, at christmas time everybody knows about 34th Street and how all of the neighbors come together to decorate the block and it's really a beautiful sight to see. I am more of a county dweller myself but these are the reasons that I like Baltimore and why I like living so close, even though I don't live inside the city itself.

It's close to DC and relatively close to New York and Philly.
Plus there's an active nightlife, lots of unique architecture, sailing on the harbor/middle branch, lots of beautiful countryside just outside of the city, horseracing, crabs, the Ravens, the Orioles (even though they've sucked since 1997), amazing hospitals, and much more.
