The egg is only viable for up to 24 hours after release. And sperm can live inside of a women for up to 5 days or longer but that is only in really good living conditions for the sperm. So do have sex tonight but don't be surprised if you might have missed it. Note the day that you got a positive ovulation predictor test and then use it as a reference for next month if this month it doesn't work out for you. If you don't have the proper cervical fluids that allow the sperm to get to their destination then it could delay things a bit. Also keep in mind that the OPK's (ovulation predictor kits ) detect the LH surge sometimes a women can get a positive OPK indicating a surge is taking place and not release an egg, if that happens the body tried again at a later day so one thing that helps is try having sex every other day or at least three times a week to insure that sperm are waiting for the egg to pop out. Also go to www.softcup.com and read up on this, it is a product called Instead cups they are used as an alternative for women who are on their periods but the company is trying to get the FDA to approve this product to be used as a way of trying to conceive. it is a cup like product that is inserted into the vagina during a period to collect the fluids in a more "sanitary" way. This product could also be inserted after intercourse to help hold the sperm close to the cervix for up to 12 hours. look into it, I have them and it is a great product. Also go to www.twoweekwait.com and read the stories of success from the women who used this product. Best of luck to you and I am sending tons of baby dust to you

OPKs show that there is an LH surge which means that sometime in the next 12-36 hours you will O. So I would say when you see a pos on the OPK then you need to start the heavy baby making. Also you know that for an OPK to be pos the test line has to be just as dark or darker than the control line. Another way to keep track of ovulation is to chart BBT CM and CP it works for alot of people and most of them conceive with in 6 months. Fertility friend is an awesome site.

when you ovulate the egg can live from 6 to 24 hours, and sperm can live for up to 72 hours in the right conditions. it is obviously NOT going to hurt to have sex today and tomorrow but if it doesn;t work this month, try next month and have sex a few days before, on the day and a few days after.

Today is good...Your best bet is starting around day 10 (after period) and have sex every other day till day 16..this way it keeps you covered..Most women ovulate around day 14, but some are earlier or a little later...Good luck and relax :)
