The dial on the charger normally shows the charging current, when the battery is empty the charging current is highest therefore the needle on the dial will be towards the 6A end. As the battery becomes charged the current from the battery charger reduces and it will go towards the 0 end.

On all battery chargers this is how they work..... if the battery is dead and needs alot of charge time the needle will move up to the middle of the guage.... as the battery charges the needle drops down...so when the needle is at the bottom of the guage then your battery is charged.
