I am in gymnastics. I have a meet tom. I had a sore hamstring muscle before today and now it is so bad it hurts to move my leg. I really want to compete but should I?? I compete all around(all events) I really want to but someone told me that it will keep it from healing. It is very painful but I wouldn't care as long as I place. Should I??
My coach told me that if I miss the meet I can consider myself "off the team". My b/f says it is up to me what I choose, and he will carry my to the podium if he has to.
I don't want to lose my chance at state champ. Will me b/f be upset when I can barely walk and blame himself for letting me??(cuz it wasn't his fault)
Is my school trainer lying when she says I could damage the muscle forever(like a tear and need surgery(sp?))??

Your coach sounds like a total jerk. Yes you could damage the muscle if it is already hurt. You should give it a rest. You should be rehabilitating the muscle slowly and resting it. You do what your doctor tells you. That coach can go suck an egg.

If you are in pain you wont be able to compete. Your coach is mean if he kicks you off the team for that. Unless you have been missing meets many times then he can do that.
It would be a shame if you did permanent damage to yourself for what anyone will think.
I hope that you feel OK to compete though.

Listen to your body and the school trainer. You could damage yourself for life and NOTHING is worth that. You've heard it before. . but there is always next year. DO NOT COMPETE!!

your school trainer is not lying. you might overwork your muscle and it might be damage forever. its your choice. your health or the state champ(which happens every year)

you could have very serious problems if you keep competing and you should quit for now until it heals for you
