Every person has a human side (the ego) and a Divine side (the soul). It is the people who are ego dominate (Fame, fortune, power, prestige) who have problem with racism, they are motivated by fear. Soul dominate people are motivated by love of others and can readily see, experience, and enjoy the blessings of all cultures and colors.

Simple answer as to why racism still exists, people are stupid. They try to look at things from one perspective, and not in a global sense. It is easy to say that MY problems are the result of some other nationality or race, and that they would go away if the other races went away too.
The only idea that I have to help bring all the races together is to do away with ALL special treatment for EVERYONE. Why do we have to have "African-Americans" or "Native-Americans"? We were all born here, why can't we just all be "Americans". Why is there a "Black History" month, but no "White History" month? We as a society try SO hard to make EVERYONE feel special, that we only exclude and alienate EVERYONE else! Like that 14 year old girl in California who was expelled from school for starting a "Caucasian Club" after the "African-American" and the "Asia-American" clubs wouldn't let her join. How equal is that? Before it was "separate, but equal", and now it is "different, but better".

racism is still around because of the people that are too insecure with themselves so they take it out on other people and they chose someone who looks different because they feel they are different. also religion plays a big part in it because throughout history western religion has been intolerant of people who are different. it may sound like im bashing christians but im not. if you take a european history class you will find that western religion has been intolerant for many reasons for many many years. and people still follow the same religions as then and they havnt updated the bible or changed the way they practice for hundereds of years. so it is due to archaic religion (not entirley but it has a lot to do with it). also some people are just ignorant and are raised that way so they become that way.
short of killing all the racist people now aso as to stop the next generation from being taught racist ideals i see no way to bring people together any time soon. it realy sucks but it is true i wish there was a way to bring people together better.

Racism is a booming business. Too much to loose if the races actually all came together. Race baiters like Jackson and Sharpton for example would find themselves out of the spotlight, and out of work. There are tens of thousands of government employees (maybe hundreds of thousands) from the Federal level on down to your town or burrough whose jobs are directly involved with racism in one form or another. Largely collecting data and writing reports, but doing nothing for the cause.
Poverty, AIDS, and famine will find cures before the races are allowed to come together.

sad to say all races will not come together in this lifetime, racism is around today because of the past and present. Immigrations into this country have been numerous and new stereotypes about the cultures they have are seen to have an impact on american society for example when the Irish came they were thought to be lazy, hard drinkers, filthy and so on. Learning about a culture you have something against will get rid of stereotypes about them and bring you closer together as brothers and sisters.

Racism is still around because of mans hate for one another, and this hate continues to grow today, and to say that all races could come together in peace is simply living in denial, man has been racists toward one another since his creation, and we are just starting to become civilized but we do have a few thousand years to go yet, and until all races mix to one race, well good luck on having any peace in this world.

I know it's still around because I hear people say racist things every day and I live in a huge 'multicultural' city. A lot of it may be said carefully and behind closed doors but it's still racist.
I have no idea on how to bring everyone together. There's always going to be people who have issues with other people for dumb reasons. I think that racism will lessen over time time though (maybe not in our lifetime). It will still be around but it won't be such a huge issue.

Sadly, as long as there are people who think they are better in some way than other people, whether it involves skin color, social class or any other distinction, racism and discrimination will never go away.
I met a girl in third grade, and asked if we could play together. She told me "My mother said I can't because we're too well-to-do." Her folks may have been rich, but they obviously had ZERO class!
People can start by raising their kids to be color-blind, and to point out and condemn racism as it occurs in their daily lives. The parents are the key to raising the next generation of a racism-free society.

Racism exists because people have been taught to fear, hate or minimize one group or another....simple really.
I think racism will never be defeated before ignorance, intolerance and a sense of superiority is frowned upon including society putting a price on this lousy behavior. So, unfortunately, racism is not going away anytime soon.

I think that with time it will slowly disappear. Racism is distilled in us when we are raised up; whether it is form friends or family. Fourtunally, for every new generation the percentage of the racist population decreases. Therefore, over time, people will forget and just move on to hate something else besides skin color, sexual orientation, religion or sex.
