Pick up everything, organize it where it should all go... and then if you have tile floors, spray them with windex or 409, and then either use paper towels to dry it or an old towel. If you have carpet, you're gonna need a vacuum. And a good one, because there's no point to vacuuming if it isn't going to suck any dirt out.

Always start at the top and work your way down.
A rag works nicely when no broom or mop is handy. Use it dry to dust items, and wet to pick up any really nasty mung.
If you don't have any cleaning solution, something as simple as vinegar works great. Mix is half and half with water so you don't destroy finishes on your wood.
But bottom line - it's all about ELBOW GREASE!!

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
Try this cleaning cloth. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve
