No, it’s resting on the back of a gigantic turtle, which is standing on the back of another turtle, and that one stands on the back of another turtle. It’s turtles all the way down, just like the unlimited number of universes necessary to guarantee that we exist if you assume that it all came about by pure chance, like those who espouse the anthropic principle.
All right, to answer YOUR question., while there are lots of particle and ions streaming by from the solar wind, practically speaking, the Earth’s atmosphere attenuates so rapidly as we get further from it that at altitudes of 100 miles or further from sea level, there is not enough air to breathe. Get further out, and there isn’t even enough air for our most sensitive instruments to detect. When you get out between, say mars and here, there is only about five or ten molecules of ANY kind in each cubic meter! And, between the stars, it supposedly drops to maybe one particle per cubic meter. You’d have to go hundreds or thousands of light years to hit a particle that was the size of a grain of sand.
(PS, don’t forget what I said about the anthropic principle!)

No. There are particles of all different types of matter floating around in otherwise empty space. Quoting the source below: "Contrary to popular understanding, outer space is not completely empty (i.e. a perfect vacuum) but contains a low density of particles, predominantly hydrogen gas, as well as electromagnetic radiation."

Think about it, let's say that there is nothing at all in outer space, no planets, no sun, no galaxies, just Earth and black empty space. Which diredtion is it supposed to fall to? Which way is down? Don't say, "Direction of south pole"!
