I'm NOT looking for a site like this: http://www.x-rates.com/ that shows market rates. I want actual rates (+ fees, if any) given by real places in Japan (like the post office or airport or a major hotel) so that I can compare it to the rates offered here: https://www.foreignexchangeservices.com/cfx/cfx/todaysrates to see if I should buy before going or buy once I'm in Japan.

The site the second answer has is a good one for actual rates. Fees for exchanging $ into yen is 3yen per $. But that does vary as you move into the private sector. One thing you should be aware of is that the rate of exchange changes daily in Japan, while in the states, it changes weekly. So, if the yen value drops significantly (more than 3yen/$) it would be better to exchange your $'s into yen in the us. But if the yen becomes stronger, do it in Japan.

Hope you enjoy your trip.
