It is much simpler than you could imagine.

First you need a cable that has 2 RCA plugs to a stereo 1/8" plug. To go from your stereo to the mic plug on your PC. Then go to the internet and find a program such as Wavepad or something that will record the music you are inputing. This will allow you to edit a bit and convert to a MP3 or WAV format when you save it. There are many good recorder/converter programs out there. I believe Wavepad is like $30 after the trial expores. But it is totally worth it.

Have fun!!

Download free shareware music-creation software (Google it), there's a lot of them, then plug your stereo into your line in jack and record a .wav file.

Convert the .wav file to .mp3 or the Apple format if you must.

Have fun!

You need a phonograph that has RCA stereo output...and a sound card on your computer that can take stereo input...

And then use a wave recorder, save the file, and voila!
