YES, if your car is jump started improperly, damage to your alternator can result. As a rule of thumb, never hook the black jumper cable directly to either car the jumper or the jumpee

Depends on how high your jumping it from. Anything over about 10 feet will not only break the alternator but will severely injure most other components

Not if you do it right. Not so smart people just say that because they find out their alternators are bad after jumpstarting, when anybody with half a brain would realize that the bad alternator was why the battery died in the first place.

NO.... if you jump a car correctly (Red to Pos and Black to Neg) then it will not hurt your alternator at all. I have done it a million times.....

it is true .... im going thru this ... i jump started my car on wednesday and it wouldnt work b/c the cables were too weak and i replaced the battary and now i had my alternator check and they told me i had to replace it ..
