I started severly cramping on last wed the 17th. I have never had to miss work or school because of my cramps. I just took some midol and got over it. But the cramps continued, and nothing worked! Not midol, not ibprofen, not a heating pad, nothing. I started my period thurs the 18th with the same cramps all through out. I literally couldn't get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. Then fri night, the 19th, I noticed a sharp pain on my left side that mainly only happened at morning and night with a few times during the day. My period stoped on sunday, the 20(which is normal). I also had a few small clots on my tampon, like once a day. But I am still cramping some. Do you think I should see my doctor? Or do you know what it could be? Do you think he will have to examine me?

Painful periods are not normal - you should see your doctor. Write everything that happened down so you don't forget anything, including what medicine you took and anything else you tried. It helps to get doctors to understand how serious pain is, more than just trying to describe it to them verbally in my experience.

It sounds like it may be endometriosis, but it could also be a lot of other things. Your doc will almost certainly need to examine you, and may want to do an ultrasound, or other tests.

You should always go to the doctors when your period is out of the ordinary. Because, something serious could be wrong. It almost sounds like you could have endometriosis. It causes the symptoms you are describing.

sorry to say, but are you sure it was a period? sounds like a possible miscarriage. i would see your doctor regardless of whether you had sex, used protection or birth control etc or didn't have sex in the last month.
