There have already been many many movies about Elvis. The 'best' critically AND audience-wise was 1979's 'Elvis' which was Directed by newcomer John Carpenter (right after he made 'Halloween') and starred grown-up child actor, Kurt Russell. In order to look more like Elvis, Kurt Russell had plastic surgery done to his cheekbones, which was permanent. John Carpenter promised Kurt that since he had the plastic surgery, if no one else would ever hire him in Hollywood then John promised to always have a role for Kurt to play. However, the movie 'Elvis' not only made Kurt a grown-up star but set him on his path to superstardom. He and John became very close friends and John did indeed put Kurt in several of his other movies, as promised. These movies (Escape From New York, The Thing) made Kurt Russell the household name he was as a teenager in all those Disney movies. As for your question, it IS definantly time for a new Elvis movie. The only problem is everyone who was close to 'the king' have there own versions of his life to tell, which has made making the ultimate Elvis movie a great challenge. John Carpenter's was the closest one to tell any actual 'dirt' on Elvis so maybe that could be the story to be retold. As for who would play Elvis, I would opt for a newcomer to play him. :-)

There are already several movies about Elvis. If there had to be another one,I'd say Joaquin Phoenix. I bet he could really do the "thank you very much" phrase very well!

they have made a bunch of movies about elvis, kurt russell even played him, dale midkiss, micheal st james, there have been actors wh even played elvis impersonators, but i think john travolta would make the best actual elvis.
