If you were, then what wasit like and what are the qualifications.?

There are no set qualifications. It's sort of like a reward for your committment and hard work to your party. Basicly anyone from the garbage man to Donald trump could be a member of the Electoral college.

In most states (and territories, and foreign caucuses), Electors are voted in by their fellow (Republican or Democrat) party members. I was once invited to run for the post of Elector, but did not stand as I felt I could not with good conscience necessarily pledge support to the party's nominee and might end up a censured historical anomaly!
