i'm in 8th grade and i'm already taking algebra1, but my math teacher wants me to take algebra1 honors 'cause i got a 96 on my midterm/placement test for high school.if i do take honors, i'll have to have my classes switched around. should i do it?

i am in a few honors classes in school. you should first ask yourself a few questions.
1.do you really like algebra? it is so mush easier to excel in a subject you love at a high level then a subject you hate.
2. Has your grade been consistent? if its been in the a, a- range, go for it. As long as you didn't get a c one day, an a teh next and then fail a quiz, you should be fine.
3. Does math come easily to you? if you have always done well in math, you should be fine. If you have struggled, it might not be best.
From what you sai you should seem fine. Go honors.!

I think you ought to get into the honors class. Then, if you feel like it's manageable, stay in it. If in the first few days it feels overwhelming, you can always drop the course and take regular algebra. I'd also consider what it will be like making that transition to high school. It may be overwhelming your first year. You also need to ask yourself if your honors course as a freshman will give you and extra point in your GPA and if it's a significant boon to your academic career-- remember, there's always time to take trig, and AP Calculus. Certainly, if you intend to go into the sciences or engineering after high school it would make sense to take honors Algebra. Talk to your high school counselor and any friends that you have at the high school. You might also talk to the career center person at your new high school for any additonal insight.

Well, this is something you have to think about. It looks better to take an advanced class if you can. But if you do bad in the Honors class, it will look very bad. If you take the basic class and get a good grade, that's nice, but it still doesn't look as good as taking an advanced class. It's better to take an easy class and do good rather than taking an advanced class and doing bad.
If it were up to me, i'd take the honors class. I always love a challenge!!

Yes! It makes your college applications look so much better. Excell in the things you do well. It will be well worth your while. I did all honors and my college was impressed.

If you got such a high grade, I think normal Algebra may bore you. Go for honors.

i think you should do it because it will help you out in a lot of things - i have honors classes as well and sometimes there are more advantages - i say go for it

yea i mean u'll learn more and it looks better when it comes time for college..
