Hi ya

Normally the maid of honor will either wear a different dress or same dress different color or have something that will distinguish her from the bridesmaid. (like for example it can be the same exact dress and color but if the bridesmaids are in sleeveless she might be in off the shoulders or other way around)

As the maid of honor is the highest distinction the wedding party. (that does not include the bride and groom)

It use to be that everyone in the bridal party wore the exact same thing as the bride to confuse any outside raiding parties that meant to kidnap the bride as the all looked the same the raiders wouldn't know which one was the bride.

But I have been at weddings where the maid of honor was different and some where she was the same as the bridesmaids.

If it is your wedding it is totally up to you which way you want to do it.

Its not necessary to wear the same dresses. The Maid of honor can wear a different dress but not too much away from the design of the bridesmaids. No rule for this.

Yes the maid of honor does wear the same dress as the other bridesmaids. The Bride is the one who's meant to look special & different since it's her wedding day.

It depends on the wedding. I'd say that in most weddings that I have been to, yes, she wears the same dress. But I've been to weddings where the maid of honor's dress is different from the rest of the bridesmaids. Either way is acceptable.

usually the MOH wears the similar-colored dress as the bridesmaids. but there's always something distinctive about her dress, maybe a touch of rhinestones, or a different-colored ribbon around her waist, etc. however, no matter how distinctive she is from the bridesmaids, if you are the bride, you should make sure that you're the one who stands out because it's your day!
