If you are looking for an inboard out drive engine. Most Merc-
Cruiser and Volvo-Penta engines are either Chevs or Ford
block. There is dealer in Niles, Ohio that sells brand new
crate engines just when you order them tell them to order
one for marine usage, the only difference is some stainless steel parts on the engine instead of plain steel.

look up the brand of engine you're looking for online. find out the zip codes of the locations that interest you. put in the zip under the brands you're interested in and give them a call. do a little "shopping". unless you're a dealer you won't find a wholesaler. good luck.
