When will right be right and wrong be wrong?
Do I really have to be a part of a system that would require children in other countries or even adults to be enslaved to make me a pair of shoes........when I could pay someone in my own country two or three times what I pay now for the same product?

I owe it to my country and my fellow man .....even if they live in Taiwan or China or wherever!
And that's just one example.
What about Pharmasutical(sp) companies that keep creating new medications that cause more harm than cure? When there are alternatives naturally that the gov. or Merck can't make money on?
Etc. etc. etc............

Do not use the government to change companies. You do it. Find all the products that will keep you away from Merck and create a website out of them. get with some natural medicine doctors and create national awareness. make Shoe companies have a statement that says we do not use children as slave labor in any country. When they write you back saying they do not. I mean write them personnally saying you were going to buy their shoes. And when and if they write you back with an answer keep it. If they lie it will be liabel and you can suit them.Have many people write to all the shoe companies so they know they will have multiple lawsuits at once. Start with what you can do first.
individual power has not been taken away yet.

Your vote as has been said, and your dollar are your power. There are plenty of health food stores where you can buy "alternative" medicines and alternative medicine practicing doctors are becomming ever more common. Look for the "made in..." label for products whenever possible. You are not the only one who feels the way you do!

Your vote is your say in legislation. Also, your letters and phone calls are your say. Believe or not, politicians may not read all their mail or speak to everyone on the phone, but they can COUNT. And they do keep count of your input. If enough people voice their opinion, it will make a difference in a politician's actions.
