I am for what benefits living society. Sure, we can debate many ethical questions as to the benefits of the living and that of what life is, but to advance the quality of life is most important. If there is an answer within Stem Cell Research, let us unlock the key to it. I oppose abortion, but understand that Stem Cell reaches far beyond the abortion debate.

I am all for stem cell research because there may come a day when me or someone in my family gets sick, and the only thing that could cure it may be stem cells. I do however not like the idea of having to use embryos for research. I think all women who go to a doctor and get an abortion should sign an agreement that they are willing to donate their fetus so that the stem cells can be harvested and use those for research. If embryonic stem cells are the best why can't every woman that gives birth donate some stem cells from the cord blood to be used for research? Wouldn't this save a lot of gov't red tape? Aborted fetus' just go in the garbage anyway more or less. (incinerated) And after cord blood is tested you can't tell me they keep it. Couldn't this be a solution? I think we should be way ahead in our stem cell research by now. Thousands of lives could depend on it.

For, for, FOR!!
The thing that people seem to forget is that not all stem cells are embryonic (from an embryo)
It's certainly true that there's far more flexibility in development of embryonic stem cells than any other type... and that they can be scientifically coerced into producing almost any sort of cell to repair so many diseases and disorders... obviously spinal cord issues are at the top of the list here....
I don't see why a discarded embryo from a fertility clinic can't be donated to research and used in this way as opposed to simply being flushed down the drain of a laboratory. Parents should always have the option of donating this embryo to science, just as you can have your child's organs donated if they die from unnatural causes.
I think folks are freaking way too much about the issue. We're not talking about growing test tube babies just to cure something... we're talking about a clump of 16 cells or so. This is no greater than the "life" that could form by conceiving but using an IUD as a contraceptive device by the time the uterine wall is simply too irritated to allow it to implant.
Women conceive clumps of 16 or 32 cells all the time, lose the pregnancy for whatever reason by the time menstruation is due to occur and it results in nothing noticible or perhaps just a slightly heavier period than usual.
I don't see us having a funeral every time a woman has her period just in case there was something fertilized during that cycle that was not viable.
In any event, I am FOR all stem cell research, and in a carefully controlled setting, absolutely FOR embryonic stem cell research too.
Best to you...

For non-fetal stem cell research. It is shoeing signs of being useful in the next5 years. fetal stem cells actually cause cancer.

Adult stem cells yes, fetal stem cells no. It is never a good idea to value one life over another.

For it. If the United States does not move forward in the research they are going to fall behind the Chinese and the North Koreans. I cannot think of one logical argument to be against it outside of religion.

100% for, embryonic or otherwise. A vote for banning stem cell research is a vote for banning AIDS or cancer research.

From my limited understanding of this issue, it only involves taking cells from umbilical cords. If I am wrong I apologise now.
Given that, I can see no reason not to forge ahead at the greatest possible speed.

For. I can't understand why people would be against it when it can cure so many diseases. Maybe if they had Parkinson's disease they would sing a different tune...
