I think that we are on an interesting turning point in human development. We have so much technology that we are getting lazy, which will lead to our downfall.

I think that we have let people change the values and morals that we posessed as a nation. It is sad to say that we have allowed public officials to determine what we can and cannot do with our own bodies. We allow immoral and explicit images and actions to be broadcast into our daily lives and we've also become a nation in which we deal in other peoples business and personal affairs when they have no affect on us whatsoever. The horrible thing I think, is the way the government has set the lower class minorities in a never ending cycle. Women without jobs can get healthcare for their children until age 18, groceries (paid for by taxpayers) through EBT, reduced housing, and a monthly check for having babies. Now, don't get me wrong, for the people who try and need, this is not a problem, but for those who simply sit around and do nothing and get absolutely everything, this is unfair. How many middle class or upper lower class families struggle to get benefits, put food on the table, and make ends meet (all with a strady job). Hell, I work 80-100 hours a week and have enough to pay bills, eat, and save. But every 2wks, 500 dollars is taken out of my check and part of that tax money goes to take care of kids that I don't have and are not mine.

Pretty broad question I must say. Kind of like "write a one page summary of world history"
I take it you mean world society, not US necessarily.
I think things are just about as fouled up as ever, but there are more of us fouling things up, so the earth is more profoundly affected.
We have extreme poverty, injustice, cruelty, power hungry maniacs, disease, wars, tribal conflicts, religious persecutions, bigots, and all the other destructive influences that we always have had.
We have good and kind people too, but not enough ot them gravitate toward power and influence. Or maybe they start out good, but are corrupted by their success.
We are bankrupting the ability of our earth to be a provider. We are abusing it, and it will have no choice to follow the laws of physics and chemistry, and eventually shut us down.
Pretty sad, but in the end our selfishness will do us in.
