I know many women who love this movie and think it is a 'chic flick' and maybe is some ways it is. BUT it also has great male appeal too. In fact it covers many guy fantasies such as:
1. who wouldn't want to be the feared pirate Roger.
2. who wouldn't want to prevail against overwhelming odds.
3. Stick it to the Man.
4. Avenge your fathers killer
5. Out smart the little 'Know-It-All' at his own game.
and oh by the way melt the heart of the stuck-up pretty girl and have her fall in love with you in the end.
And what about the big kiss at the end? I guess that is the chic flick part.

There are plenty of men out there who work hard, stay loyal to their wives and raise their kids, prepare for retirement and pour what they have left into their hobbies, advocations and church life. Many people with weak, faulty thinking have the impression because of various depictions that Jesus was a 98 lb weakling and therefore if you believe in Him and the supposed "passive activist" turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor as well as your enemy, attitude that He taught, you then must be weak as well as irrational, illogical and unintelligent which is lamely what the leftists or atheists typically charectorize people of faith as. So essentially this particular bumper sticker is saying that any number of things one might pursue, indulge in or adhere to philosophically have little or nothing to do with the "80's" mantra of "real me don't do this...that...or the other..." Real men do believe in a loving and attentive creator God they call Christ and because they do they are better men for it. That you find this concept offensive simply says you are ignorant and fearful of what you don't understand but rather than delve any deeper, you simply chide, critisize and mock any idea outside your comfort zone of "really cool, neat and acceptable" ideas approved by your peers. I suspect. I could be wrong but I don't think so. That you get offended over a bumper sticker to the point that you counter bumper sticker and then post on this topic shows just how small minded you are. What gets me about people like you...all the labels you apply to people of faith are the very charectoristics you tend to display most. Ignorance, phobic intolerance and irrational derision. Hope this changes for you. Choose life. Love in Christ, ~J~

wouldn't say ALL, but I will say its the only Rob Reiner movie I own. I Like it because it doesn't take it self too seriously, and the use of Peter Falk/Fred Savage as Granpa + Grandson reading a story as a framing devise works better than you would think.
Its a Good balance of sword fighting and Comedy, and it has a "Just this side of Mel Brooks" feel to it, I even go so far as to say the only way it would have been better would for Mel Brooks to have directed it

i own the movie, for a lot of reasons. one is the Inigo Montoya part where he finlly catches up to count rogan and goes hello i am inigo montoya prepare to die, its a classic filn. maybe its because a lot of us were big wrestling fans in the 80s and we loved andre the giants character *** fezzik. i love the movie for a bunch of reasons i think its could because its an actual fairy tale/love story that men shouldnt feel gay about watching. plus the story about a grandfather reading the story to his kid is touching.

Fighting, getting the girl, giants kicking little guys butts.
It makes men feel better about their bad attributes.
Its one of my favs because of the fighting and the romance.
To each his own I guess. lol
