The Truck Driving industry has been strictly regulated for some time now. Truck drivers are no longer allowed to drive as long as they want to and just catch a couple of winks here and there. They have to keep log books of where they have been and where they are going. Time at the wheel is strictly enforced. It used to be, you could drive for 8 hours and then u had to rest for 8 but things have changed and it is now something like drive for 12 or 14 and rest for 10 or something close to that. There are teams of drivers that switch off so that the truck is moving more. One person rests while the other drives and so on.But restrooms and fuel usually get in the way of the nonstop part of this question. However some drivers do pee in a bottle at times in order not to have to stop.

Due to log books and regulations, you can only legally drive 4 hrs. then must have a 15 min. break. When it comes to overall driving per day or week, it gets a little complicated with hrs. worked vs. hrs. available. Some drivers keep 2 sets of books, so they can drive longer, and if they exceed the speed limit it also gives them more time to drive.
