Is there special meaning behind being able to do this in your dreams? When I do it I see it as a puzzle or mystery to be solved.

yes, you can revisit pretty much any dream and "play" with the outcome. I've taught my kids that when they have a nightmare, they should meditate about how to "change" the ending.

The subconscious mind is an AMAZING thing.

Sounds like lucid dreaming. You realize that you are dreaming, so you can do anything that you want in a dream without consequence. It is lots of fun when you are having a sexual dream.

I've found that I can do this with nightmares. Before I fall asleep, I tell myself that if I start to have a nightmare to turn it around and fight back. It seems to work pretty well. It's very strange how your brain remembers to operate in a certain way even when you're asleep.

Yes. It's not only dreams though. You can do this with real life as well. Remember, you are always in control and always have a choice.
