How do you set up a hypothesis?

"The Scientific Method", start with a identified problem or question (the biggest hurdle for some due to denial). Then use IMAGINATION (crucial step, impossible for some with college diploma shoved up inside cutting off blood to brain) to think of possible explanations/solutions to said problem, and logically, without emotion or bias, eliminate each one until what is left, no matter how improbable (as Sherlock Holmes would say), must be the answer. Now you take gravity, Newton and Einstein came up with the best known answer at the time, but it's still not 100% right.

A hypothesis just tells what you think the reason is for something you have observed, read, heard about, etc.

For example: if you are testing how much pore space is inside various bricks ...

Observation: I have noticed that bricks are a darker color when they are wet. Different bricks turn different colors.

Hypothesis: Different kinds of bricks have different amounts of pore space inside, so they can soak up varying percentages of water.

Prediction: (Tells what will happen in the experiment if your hypothesis is correct.) Bricks of different types will gain different percentages of weight when they are soaked with water.
