Kidnapping is a legal term and describes the offense. Abduction is a term used on the news. Used interchangably often enough for everyone to be confused about true meaning.

I dont know if i am right,but i think kidnapping is when someone is taken by someone they know and abduction is when someone is taken by a total stranger.
