yes
it is
just like stupid high school popularity contests
plus they only pick players that are larger market,on winning teams,or on tv all the time.if you think about it every team has an all star type of player.i wish the fans were not allowed to vote because it is a little unfair

It's the All-Star game. Shouldn't the guys who are starring in the league in the given year be the ones who play/start? I think the starting lineups should be subject to coaches' changes. Shaq's a joke. Vince Carter used to be a huge joke because everyone and the their grandmother in Canada voted for him, even though plenty of Eastern Conference players could have had his spot. Same thing with Yao, he's the only NBA player that appeals to the Asian American community, so that's why he gets something like 2,000,000 votes. Most fans simply don't know enough to be allowed to vote for the All Star team in any sport. Thank goodness Arenas is starting this year - there's a player that really deserves it.

No. the saddest element is that the sport has been given a faux experience of "magnitude" by utilising a commissioner who would not comprehend the meaning of an "exhibition pastime". Fan vote casting for an All celeb pastime continually has been and continually would be a "attractiveness contest". and that's the way it may well be - the sport could be with regard to the followers attending to confirm the gamers they like to confirm. and there isn't any "top" or "incorrect" thank you to vote. in case you % to truly look on the documents, and vote for gamers you sense are having extra appropriate seasons, that's great. And if somebody else chooses to vote for gamers with the aid of fact they have had a protracted and efficient profession (Jeter, in line with danger?), there's no longer something incorrect with that. And if somebody chooses to vote for a participant with the aid of fact they play on his or her well-known team, who's to declare it incredibly is faulty? the sport could continually be for the followers. the only reason all and sundry even has a concern with the fan vote casting is probable 2-fold. a million. The outstanding stupidity that an exhibition pastime meant to have a good time the sport itself could confirm domicile field benefit for the international series, rather while that is no longer something better than a knee-jerk reaction by utilising an extremely unpopular Commissioner who did no longer have the balls to easily tell the followers that a tie in an exhibition pastime became by utilising no ability the tip of the international; and a pair of. They sense that their way of vote casting is the only "top" way. regularly those are extremely youthful followers who do no longer remember while the All celeb pastime became rather specific. lower back then it became a pastime that every person followers have been given excited approximately, and that did no longer prefer all of the better crap like the domicile Run Derby (incredibly, does all and sundry incredibly need to confirm that lower back - notably for like 4 hours?) and a "movie star" softball pastime. the sport is meant to be for the followers. provide it lower back to them under that is unique meant purpose, and the debate might leave.

yea that's because people vote in players with only hype like LeBron and T-Mac over Nash. T-Mac has been injured all the time. Shaq only played five games all season.

Yes and No, true some of these players don't deserve the recognition due to injury, suspension and poor showings but the All-Star game is for the fans;the players don't take it as a reflection of their worth and no true fan of the game does.

I think only the starters are picked by the fans. Everyone else is picked by NBA coaches and commitee, so I think it is fair. Besides, it does not matter if you don't start, what is wrong was Ilgauscus never even got to play when he was selecter a couple years ago.

yes i hate the all star game now and what it stands for. long gone are the days of jordan and magic where the allstar game really was a allstar game. by the way yao deserves to be in the allstar game anyway before he got hurt, shaq on the other hand made it in because of his name.
