I've noticed this quite a bit, and haven't a clue as to why they would do this. Is it just some sort of fashion statement or what?

I know many Asian and West Indians with long pinky nails, I think it's just superstitious and for good luck.

For Asians, It means they are not working class and don't have to do manual labor for money. Mainly businessmen or organize crime members. That they don't and won't break nails. But if an Americans does it, than it means that they do coke. The same thing are use for different purposes and have different meanings, depending on where you are and from.

I think because alot of asians do nails. The asians that do my nails grow out their pinky nail because it makes it easier to do mine.

well I have seen that in middle eastern cultures as well is other cultures. usually on men it is suppsoed to symbolize that they are a pimp or that they have a lot of women. in the kama sutra it means that the finger nail is supposed to be used to cut alittle something on a virgin so intercourse would be easier

It's their coke nail. They use it to snort cocaine. Not crack as was suggested already because you don't snort crack, you smoke crack "rocks" out of a crack pipe.
Actually I have no idea why they would do that, but coke nail is my best guess.

most ppl that do that use it as a coke finger, they put the coke on their long fingernail to sniff
