ok i bought the guild wars game off of a web site and they sent me my activation key but when i go to guildwars.com and try to download the client it doesnt say run it just says open and save. So if you know something that might work.

Just save the file and open it. The client will start downloading things when you open it. As you move into different maps while playing it will download and decompress files that you need for that area.

I'd highly recommend that you wait until you have some time to kill, like before going to bed, and do an -image run while you sleep. This will download and decompress any and all files so you won't have to worry about having to download and decompress every time you go into a new area.
To do an -image run simply go to the client shortcut and add -image. It should look something like this "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image double click it and it will open, do it's thing and close itself when it's finish. To launch the game simply remove the -image command.
Or you can (again, I'd recommend) making a second shortcut for the client using the same target as above so you won't have to worry about editing it every time you want to image or play.
