A good bit of it is go a long to get along, I am sure. But some of it is a serious attempt to get our modern language to be less divisive and hostile, and in that aspect, I think it has merit.

It is not political correctness that is at issue, you know. It is moral values. Your own, personal to you. And your integrity in living up to those values when you deal with others.

Big old words like justice and fairness.

I don't think they mean "politics"....they are referring to the politics of Society. This is what society deems correct or acceptable.

Hence the term Politically Correct" refers to trying not to offend others.

Things like "political correctness" and "affirmative action" are for the weak minded and lazy who need crutches to get through life because they can't make it on their own. It gives them reasons to point fingers at others in an attempt to cover up their own failures.
