My daughter is four months old now. She was getting up 2-3 times per night when she was 2 months and now she's waking up 4-5 times per night. I posted a question about this and got a great answer that helped me out a lot:

The baby is "snacking" and not eating "meals." So, what I started doing is only feeding her every 3-4 hours and giving her her paci the other times she woke. This is working. She still wakes up 4-5 times per night, but I just give her her paci instead of nursing and she falls back asleep in 5-10 min. I think it will take some time for her adjust to this new "schedule." Talk to your doctor too... he/she might have some suggestions for you too.

Unfortunately, many people have told me that their own babies didn't start sleeping all night until they started eating solid foods. Especially if you are nursing he will continue to wake up because he doesn't have enough calories to sustain him through the night. When you start feeding him cereal it may improve his sleeping habits. Good luck!

LOL sorry honey but I hate to say this. I have friends who's 2 year olds don't sleep through the night. I have a 2 1/2 month old baby and he's starting to develop a sleeping pattern. He wakes 2 times a night to feed and goes right back to sleep.Usually by the third month your baby will have a set pattern for sleep, so you can sleep!!!! Hope this helped

My daughter is now 9 weeks old and she is usually up just once per night--about 3:30am. (Our son was sleeping through the night at 13 weeks).

Some tips:
*Make sure they get a full feeding. If you are breast feeding, it is important that they do not just snack. Snacking usually leads to a baby only getting the lower calorie foremilk, instead of the calorie rich hindmilk. So, even though a snacking baby may eat more often and consume more volume they are getting fewer calories overall.
*If you're co-sleeping, that could be the problem, your child may be a light sleeper to the point that lots of things are waking him up, including the sound of you sleeping. Putting him into his own room with a white noise machine might help in that situation.

Every child is different my son started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old. But now he is almost 5 months old he has started to wake up once during the night again. I believe it is because he is teething. Hang in there it will get better. :)

Sweetie all kids are different my daughter was over a year before she started sleeping regularly through the night and she still wakes up a few times a week more if she isn't feeling well but eventually it does get better. Also all children are different and yours will probably be sleeping through the night by 6 months if not sooner.

My son is 6 months old and gets up at least 3 times a night. He sleeps thru the night sometimes but its very rare. some babies dont sleep thru the night until after they are a year old. every baby is different. If you are breastfeeding expect this for the whole time you are BF.

Your child could be getting to much sleep during the day for naps and not enough play and stimulation to tire him right out before bed.... I have a two month old and he wakes only two times one at 3am and again around 6 or 7am.. thou all babys are different it could go on like this for a few more weeks or so if your child continues not to develop his sleeping through the night i suggest talking to your doctor to see what could be wrong and what you can do to help rectify this situation..

My daughter was up every 2-3 hours when she was a newborn. I couldn't get her to eat more than an ounce or two of formula. It turned out she was allergic to milk formula and had to drink soy. Do you go to your son as soon as he cries? It won't hurt him to cry for a few moments. If you go to him every time he wimpers, it will be harder for him to learn to go back to sleep on his own. At 2 months, you don't want to let him cry for too long either though. Some babies start sleeping through the night at 2-3 months as mine did. I've had friends whose babies were almost 2. A lot depends on the baby. Good luck to you!

He may not sleep through the nigh for a couple years...

My baby is almost 9 months and she still wakes up once a night. Your baby is still little.... he still needs to be fed throughout the night, especially if he is breastfed. Expect his sleep pattern to change when he starts solid foods (around 6 months)
