I often change my cable IP address which is assigned to my cable modem from the cable company. Apparently Time Warner sets up their network so that it doesn't give a new IP addy until like 2 days go by with your computer or modem unplugged from the wire. However, I can force the cable modem to assign me a new IP by changing the router's MAC.

I have my netgear router (wg624v2). To change the router's MAC addy I go into the router's config software. I have the option to accept the default MAC, or use some hardwired MAC, or enter my own. I usually just change the last hexedecimal letter/number to something else, like from BB to BA. Then, after I choose Accept to make the changes, I unplug and replug the router and the cable modem, and reboot the computer. The result (from, for example, whatismyisp.com) is a new IP address.

feels like the 2d router is working as a "change and prompt AP" basically, no longer as a router. for this reason, it may well be complicated coded interior an identical LAN subnet with the aid of fact the 1st router. it incredibly is the reason the "gateway" and different IP concepts is lacking. the thank you to define that interior of reach IP address is the complicated area, somebody could comprehend what it became set at. try a secondary address like 192.168.a million.2 or 192.168.a million.254. in case you nonetheless will no longer be able to discover it, you would be able to could seek and run an IP scanner on your 192.168.a million.x subnet, to discover all gadgets (assuming 2d router responds to pings - some do no longer) that's attainable somebody set the 2d router to a very distinctive LAN IP address, yet while it has DHCP became off, your pc won't comprehend what that's... the 2d router, if working purely as a change/AP might have cables plugged into the LAN ports basically, no longer the WAN port (verify how that's under pressure). no depend if that's utilising a WAN port to the 1st router, you will could do any IP scans off the 1st router. no depend if that's working purely as a change/AP, then it might desire to certainly have not have been given any IP address assigned to it. basically thank you to log into it then, is to reset it to production unit defaults so which you will log into it (in view that its mode would be reset besides, it is going to grow to be a router lower back...) purely, that 2d router will possibly no longer have an IP address assigned to it, and it won't ever, except somebody resets it to production unit defaults (which messes up the present configuration and prompt setup - those will could be redone)
