yes i remember it ........that soggy old cloth cat called bagpuss
one of my favourites
As difficult as it may be to believe, there were only thirteen episodes of Bagpuss made. These were Ship in A Bottle, The Owls of Athens, The Frog Princess, The Hamish, Flying, The Ballet Shoe, The Wise Man, The Giant, The Mouse Mill, The Elephant, Old Man's Beard, The Fiddle and Uncle Feedle.
Each week Emily brings Bagpuss objects to mend and repair. Bagpuss will wake up and examine them, in the company of his friends - including Madeleine the rag doll, and the mice from the Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ.
All this happens under the watchful eye of Professor Yaffle, the carved woodpecker book end, who comments scathingly on the toys and the stories they tell. Then at some point, Bagpuss becomes very very tired, and they all go back to sleep. That's basically it, so why did this all happen?
Simple - because Emily loved him.

No, never. Sounds like a UK thing. Though it may have been cute, the word 'bagpuss' creates far from a lovely picture in my mind.
*I just looked it up and that cat IS cute and there seems to have been some adorable mice as well.

Bagpuss was great. Those little mice very cute and Professor Yaffel was supberb. I've got a Bagpuss bag!!!!

ah bagpuss there's a memory with the mice singing we will fix it. liked bagpuss but don't think he resembles gb though
