Moths and butterflies make up the second largest order of insects on the planet. There are about 180,000 known species of moths and butterflies collectively known as the Lepidoptera or scaled-wings.
They occupy almost all environments around the world, so it would be rare to find a region other than Antarctica that does not have at least one variety. All moths and butterflies begin their lives as eggs, which the female lays on their favourite food.
The eggs hatch and begin life as a caterpillar or larva. They will eat and eat until they get large enough to begin metamorphosis. They will them build a cocoon or chrysalis and begin what is known as pupation, they after a set amount of time they hatch into the beautiful insects we call moths and butterflies....
