Do you agree with this?

Perhaps I better explain, it really is not about the night, as an analogy it means that if the sky were filled with stars it would be too bright to see anything. The stars shine out brighter against the dark. Therefore, any work of Art must have it's less inspiring moments in order for the best to stnd out against. Whether I'm retarded or not is open to question but as to the person who made that up, I think not. If you will excuse me I have some shiney sweet wrappers to stare at for an hour or two.

Meeowf, it's nice to see some Artists out there. I hope you can show people what this means sometime in your work. Maybe the night can't be all stars but thanks anyway for the star to this question.

fluppenhupp, don't you think the two could exist in the same work of Art? Be it a film, book or something else?

well, i am telling what i believe.
i think there would not be any significance of stars without the blackness of sky or night.
its like if one has not seen the ugliness he or she can not appreciate beauty.
if one wants to paint a night Scene on a white sheet he or she will have to paint it black first for one cannot show the shine of stars without showing the dark side of the skies.
maybe its like to praise good deeds we have to curse bad deeds.

Yes and No.

On a purely astrological level, the night is actually all stars. The Universe is infinite, so there are an infinite number of galaxies and stars, which would fill the sky with their light from horizon to horizon without the smallest speck of dark. Thanks to time, not all star's light has reached us yet and some might never do, as we are moving away from some and towards some other.

Considering your notion about "there has to be rain to fully appreciate the sunshine". Absolutely! The nominations for the Turner Prize in the UK are every year a prime example of rain, whereas there is pure sunshine when you look at Rodin's sculptures and studies.

The night can't be all stars to everyone.

if you're a deep, inciteful, positive person, the night can be all stars.

Some people just can't see the forest for the trees.

look for the small details, it's much more interesting than the big picture.

Yes it is about stars, they are always in the sky, whether it's cloudy and you can't see them. Stars are planets, and there are lots of them, plus other things in the sky, like satelites, novas, comets, etc. So enjoy the stars....they are beautiful!
