Communism couldn't deliver on the promises they made. They promised democracy, equality, and prosperity. It was to be a "workers' paradise". Instead it turned out to be for the politicians. It's amazing that Communism lasted as long as it did. The Berlin Wall was built to stop people from leaving. The Great Wall of China was built to keep invaders from coming in. People in East Berlin knew that people in West Berlin had it much better.

because it was built in the middle of the country (middle of Berlin), not as a border. Look at the Great Wall of China, its still there, its not in the middle, its not in the way.

Communism had been defeated and Germany was embarking on a new era and it was called Freedon for all its citizens.
