I inherited a silverish band with a braid-looking design in it. On the inside, there is the number 925. What does that mean?

925 means 925 sterling silver -silver of the highest quality

it's usually a combination of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper

I may be wrong but I believe 925 is the stamp for sterling silver. it is similar to the 14k or 18k etc on a gold piece it basically says its sterling silver.

It means it is real silver. Don't lose it is of value. Keep it for sentimental value and you can enjoy having a fine piece of jewelry not alot of that around.

it is sterling silver. i once bought a ring thinking it was gold and it was just silver plated i was gutted! thats what you get for bu ying off the black market thoug

it means that it's made out of sterling silver -- basically it's real, and not just some cheap metal.
