Do this problem in steps, adding only one negative sign at a time.

-(-(-3)) is the negative of the negative of negative three.
You know what negative three is. The negative of negative three is a positive three.
The negative of a positive three is negative three, so your answer is negative three.

In other words, -(-(-3)) = -(+3) = -3

When you see a - in front of a ( it is understood that there is a 1 between the - and the (.
Therefore the equation is actually this
-1(-1(-3)). You multiply each and since multiplication can be performed in any order the answer will be the same no matter which numbers you multiply first.
So the answer is -3 because a -1 x -1=1 and then 1 x -3=-3

Quick Answer is the total number of negative signs is an odd number (there are three of them) so the answer will be negative. If there were two or any even number it would be a positive answer.
