Okay, so I’m planning on getting a new laptop this weekend but Windows Vista is being release on the 30th. Should I buy a Windows XP laptop or preorder a laptop with the new window? Is Windows Vista really that great or will it be like Windows Me that was meant for failure?

Can't say about that until I've used it, but I'd wait for a couple months and read the reviews of Vista before I buy a computer. Vista requires advanced hardware like a super duper video card for example, and I'd want to make sure the computer I buy already has all the capabilities to run Vista.

Hi,

it is always suggestible not to buy new os up on release because it may have unknown bugs so waiting for a little bit like 4-8 months will be good so that microsoft will know about some bugs and can fix them.

i suggest to go with Win XP now and choose for free vista upgrade while you buy laptop.

Vista Schmista.
Are you running internet explorer, Word, Outlook? Still runs fine under XP.
Microsoft will officially support XP until 2009
Are you getting a 64bit processor or an Intel Duo Core.
Unless its a 64bit, you will be running Vista is 32bit mode.
All old software will be emulated in 32bit mode.

Sounds like a 32bit Duo is better doesn't it?
Dell, Asus, everything else in that order.

if you really want to get vista, plzz make sure your laptop is vista compatible, otherwise your old one will have some problems running vista and may crash a lot..i don't know why everyone is so hyped up over vista, without the perfect cpu, there will be a lot of problems and a lot to learn.
