Treason is one of the crimes with no statute of limitations. She has continualy showed her true alliance with the forces aligned against the US. Even going so far as the infamous trip to Hanoi.
All of these were grounds for criminal prosecution///but her familys influence at the time prevented it. Should we do it now?

Excellent idea, however, I don't really want my tax dollars paying for all of that expose. I think that all of these celebrities should shut the hell up about their personal beliefs. Nobody cares. Play your instrument, act, dance, or whatever it is you do and keep your mouth shut. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean we all want to hear it.

It's funny , every time she starts sounding reasonable, I just wait a while and they she does something just stupid.

As far as treason is concerned, by the letter of the law, she had a right to express herself , she however chose the worst possible form of expression - consorting with an enemy military organization.

In a way however, it accomplished one goal - which is to have people talk about that incident and the concepts of why the US goes to war. However it did not accomplish her goal of making people see the war as a sham or humanize the enemy to any real extent the war continued for years.

It was also something which occured before I was even born so I can't say or see how it could possibly be relevant. Charging her would simply make it seem all the more relevant and could really only serve as a point of vendetta with the few who still care.

Moreover the present / current (2003) peace activists whom went to Baghdad before the Iraq war to act as human shields against potential US attacks certainly didn't cause a moment's hesitation in the President's decisionmaking process so really the "ultimate" form/variant of Hanoi Jane's protest has become just as irrelevant.

If it becomes a serious problem again, simply banish the person to the country they enjoy defending so much.

Absolutely not, she and every American has a right to speak out against this country's government. She is more patriotic by doing that then not questioning the government, people that allow policy's like during the Vietnam war without speaking out should be tried for treason.

If they won't bring charges against George Bush for all of his lies, why should they bring charges against Jane Fonda? Get over it, it was a long time ago, we've got bigger problems in this country right now. Seems like the Bush family has created a lot more trouble than the Fonda family has ever thought of causing.

I can't believe there are still people harping on about this. Although I think Jane Fonda is annoying, she never committed treason. As a lawyer (well a para legal) you really should know the law on this.

Remember, she's a movie-Hollywood celebrity. They are untouchable in this country. If you did what she did, your bank account would be frozen, the IRS would audit your taxes for life, and you would be on the FBI watch list.

However, Hollywood people can publicly denounce the government any way they want. It's a shame.
