Do I need to top up yearly or something?

Usually you have to be in credit & either make or recieve at least one call every 3 months for your phone to remain functioning. Being in credit alone is not enough with some service providers (i had credit on vodofone sim but lost credit as I hadnt made/received calls). Also it is your phone number & sim that would be useless & defunct, the phone itself would work with another compatable sim. Hope this helps

You need to top up about 3 times a year. Top up by £5 each time and use this for texts or emmergancy calls. It's what I do with my Orange PayAsYouGo phone.

You do need to top up occasionally, the time frame will depend on the carrier. If you don't, it will be cut off, and you'll have to get a new number, account etc. I also believe you'll have to get a new sim, but not real sure on that one.
