I use Epsom salts often in my gardening. Just depends on the plant and or if it is in the ground or pot. Try this website. I hope this helps you out. www.doityourself.com/stry/fertilizeepsomsalts

Good Luck!

I have used epsom salts around the garden, like a fence to keep slugs, and snails from getting in. In certain areas I would put it around the plant where I've found slugs and snails to keep them off of those particular plants. Epsom salt burns the slugs and snails.

Epsom is Magnesium sulphate

Plants use Magnesium to make chlorophyl

It's in the top5 nutrients need for green plants
Green plants also use sulpher.

1 tbsp in a gal of water per month per plant is enough,

Too much, and the sulphate will make the soil more acidic.

Epsom is great for the small space gardener, you can buy a Mag sulphate, calcium carbonate mix in a 40# bag (smallest I have seen)

Hi,
Check out this page on the link given here, it might help some:
http://www.uog.edu/cals/site/users/soil/soil/fertft1a.html

Also, I do know that too much Epsom salts, blocks phosphorus up-take, creating the purple coloration in the stems and leaves of roses, tomatoes, and etc.
I have more info about nutrient excess and deficiency, can't find it at this time, but will post to you as soon as I find it.
Hope this helps,
Dave

I use a mixture of 1/2 epsom salts and 1/2 dried milk ....about a handful when planting my tomatoes. I mix it into the soil in the hole. I always get huge, strong plants and tons of tomatoes.
